New Engine Tech allows Diesel Engines to run on any Fuel

Novel Engine Technology

ClearFlame Engine Technologies, a small business funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), has developed a novel engine technology that allows diesel engines to run on any fuel.

The company’s technology integrates into existing compression ignition engine manufacturing and creates a high-temperature environment inside the engine that lets any fuel behave like diesel fuel.

“We’re able to choose fuels that are inherently clean burning and have renewable pathways so that these engines can continue to provide for quality of life – transportation and power – without contributing adversely to climate or air quality,” says Julie Blumreiter, chief technology officer at ClearFlame.

ClearFlame Engine Technologies is supported by America’s Seed Fund powered by the NSF, a $200 million per year program that awards research and development grants to small businesses and startups, transforming scientific discovery into products and services with commercial and societal impact.
